The difference between electric reach truck and electric truck

Electric reach truck and ordinary electric truck are two types of material handling vehicles used in warehouses and distribution centers. Although both these trucks run on electricity, there are several differences between them in terms of functionality, design, and application.

Functionality:

Electric reach trucks are designed to handle loads at high elevations and narrow aisles. They are equipped with extendable forks, a mast, and a set of hydraulic controls that enable the operator to reach and pick up loads from heights up to 30 feet without moving the truck. On the other hand, ordinary electric trucks are designed to transport materials on flat surfaces and can be used to load and unload trucks. They usually have a shorter mast and heavier frames, making them suitable for carrying heavy loads.

Design:

Electric reach trucks are usually compact and maneuverable, with small chassis and long forks that can reach deep into racks or shelves. They have narrow bodies and tight turn radiuses, which allows them to work in tight spaces. Regular electric trucks, on the other hand, have a wider and longer chassis to provide more stability and support when handling bulky loads.

Application:

Electric reach trucks are primarily used for order picking and stacking in warehouses and distribution centers where high vertical storage capacity is required. They are very useful for storing pallets of various sizes and shapes at high elevations in a safe and efficient manner. They are commonly used in industries such as logistics, manufacturing, agriculture, and food and beverage. Ordinary electric trucks, on the other hand, are used for loading and unloading of materials, as well as transporting them to different locations within the warehouse or factory. They can also be used for general material handling activities like replenishment, restocking, and container stuffing.

In summary, the main differences between electric reach trucks and ordinary electric trucks lie in their functionality, design, and application. Electric reach trucks are designed for high elevation tasks, are compact and maneuverable, and are great for storing pallets at high elevations. Regular electric trucks, however, are designed for general material handling tasks on flat surfaces and are usually more robust and stable. They are both essential for material handling tasks in warehouses and distribution centers and are suitable for different types of tasks.
